SUPERBOYS OF MALEGAON

MetFilm Distribution in partnership with Amazon MGM Studios announces 28 February as the UK and Ireland cinema release date for the critically acclaimed Indian comedy SUPERBOYS OF MALEGAON, following the European Premiere at last year’s BFI London Film Festival, and World Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. Directed by Reema Kagti (Dahaad, Talaash: The Answer Lies Within), the cast is led by BAFTA nominated rising-star Adarsh Gourav (The White Tiger), Vineet Kumar Singh (The Brawler) and Shashank Arora (Made in Heaven). Taking inspiration from the 2008 documentary Supermen of Malegaon, this moving underdog story captures the joy and struggles of chasing a dream of the silver screen against all odds, making for an inspiring feelgood film that celebrates the magic of the movies, a true ode to homegrown indie cinema.

SUPERBOYS OF MALEGAON is a film based on the life of Nasir Shaikh, an amateur filmmaker from the town of Malegaon. The residents of the town look to Bollywood cinema for a much-needed escape from daily drudgery. Nasir gets inspired to make a film for the people of Malegaon, by the people of Malegaon. He bands together his ragtag group of friends to bring his vision to life, thereby bringing a fresh lease of life into the town. The film is a poignant yet uplifting take on both filmmaking and friendship – and what happens when those two worlds collide.
