47th ÉDITION OF THE FESTIVAL DES 3 CONTINENTS THE AWARDS LIST

NANTES, France — November 28, 2025.
The 47th Festival des 3 Continents concluded Friday evening at the historic Graslin Theatre, celebrating eight days of international cinema from Africa, Latin America, and Asia. This year’s edition welcomed a record 23,000 festival-goers, a remarkable milestone achieved despite widespread budget cuts affecting cultural events across France.

Artistic director Jérôme Baron praised audiences for their solidarity and engagement during uncertain social and economic times. “Cinema has this unique power to shift us, to unsettle our point of view… and its determination to never give up is what audiences came to encounter,” he said.

Top Honors Announced

Ten films competed in the international competition, judged by a distinguished jury including Sina Ataeian Dena, India Hair, Tatiana Leite, and Franco Lolli.

Montgolfière d’Or – The World of Love

The festival’s top prize went to The World of Love, a fiction feature by South Korean director YOON Ga-eun. The jury praised the film for its “depth, tenderness, and sensitivity” in exploring a universally neglected theme through “rich and complex characters who refuse an imposed narrative.”

Montgolfière d’Argent – Hair, Paper, Water…

The Silver Balloon was awarded to Hair, Paper, Water…, a France–Belgium–Vietnam documentary by Truong Minh Quy and Nicolas Graux. The jury highlighted its delicate portrayal of resilient women whose lives remain deeply connected to nature and traditional knowledge.

Special Mention – Anika Bootz

A Special Mention was given to Anika Bootz, lead actress in The Message by Iván Fund (Argentina, Spain, Uruguay). Jurors commended her for capturing “the fragile beauty of our bonds with other beings” in a poetic, tender performance.

Young Jury Award – Suçuarana

The youth jury, composed of four young residents from the Nantes area, chose Suçuarana by Clarissa Campolina and Sérgio Borges (Brazil). They praised its “immersive sound,” compelling performances, and “female-led road movie journey that opens new horizons.”

Audience Award – Attachment

Festival attendees selected Attachment, a documentary by Mamadou Khouma Gueye (Senegal, Belgium, France), as their favorite. The award is supported by LNA Santé.
