Abigail, can you tell us more about your role in the newly released film ‘Skill House’? What was it like stepping into the world of this dark, satirical story?

Hi FAB UK! ‘Skill House’ is a fictional story about the world’s top 10 influencers. They’re kidnapped and forced to compete in a social media showdown, where every like, comment and follow could save their life. At the end of each round, the person with the least amount of likes gets killed by a masked killer. I play Molly, a relatable, cosy‑core aesthetic girl who’s dating one of the characters trapped in the house. My character tries to piece together clues to figure out where the influencers are being held captive and attempts to save them. Except, Molly may be harbouring a deadly secret. As an actor, it was very interesting to step into this world. I’m not an influencer myself, but I am Gen Z, so I grew up surrounded by the internet. Especially in recent years, it’s just gotten so much more brutal for kids. The internet is largely anonymous and it’s a scary, often mean, place. I think the film showcases that quite accurately.

How did it feel to be part of the ‘Skill House’ cast? What was your overall experience working on the project?

I love being on set. It’s fun to see the choices other actors make, especially when they’re not the choices you would make. It’s always a great learning experience. I was the last person to be cast, about three days before the shoot. Preparing for the role was just me putting my life on hold and memorising all my lines! I had a blast on set, especially with all the fake blood. They used Karo syrup for the blood, so it actually tasted really good! It was amazing to be able to work on another film project with Hannah Stocking. Hannah and I go way back – we filmed a series together in 2019 about a rag‑tag team of volleyball players.

You’ve appeared in hit shows like ‘This Is Us’ and ‘Love, Victor’. What was it like working alongside actors such as Milo Ventimiglia and Mandy Moore?

Surreal! Milo Ventimiglia is just the nicest, most hardworking guy. He treated everyone with respect and was so welcoming to me. I remember thinking, ‘When I’m a lead actor on a series, I’m going to be like him’. He really set the tone on set, and it was such a positive one. Whenever I’m in the position to do so, I use him as my role model. Mandy Moore was lovely! One of my favourite Disney princesses growing up was Rapunzel from ‘Tangled’, because I have long blonde hair. So being able to meet the actress who voiced her and tell her how much that meant to me was a great experience.

You recently released your new single, ‘14 Cigarettes’. What inspired the song, and where can audiences stream or hear it?

On ’14 Cigarettes,’ I wanted to take the listener on the full heartbreak journey—from still being in contact with your ex to missing them to being angry at them and then, on the exploding, chaotic bridge, being mad at yourself and finally admitting that you saw the red flags all along. The lyrics to the chorus are:

“Now it hurts me to think of you driving away in your old Mustang, with my cassette tapes on the dash. When you left you took a piece of me, 14 cigarettes & all my best memories.”

I was also inspired by my love of vintage cars and vintage music formats, like cassettes. I like to say my music is like Courtney Love & Alanis Morissette mixed with Taylor Swift & Ed Sheeran, and I think all of those influences really shine on this track. ’14 Cigarettes’ is available now on all music platforms like Spotify, Apple, YouTube, etc.

You’re balancing a growing music and acting career. How do you approach both creative paths, and do you have a preference at the moment?

I love both, and both are very challenging career paths, so I tend to give my time to whichever is demanding it more at the moment. Songwriting is a fun process, because I can be completely myself, but on the other hand, acting is fun because I get to be someone else. With songwriting, I usually start with the lyrics. I write pages and pages of what I call “word vomit” and then go back and shape a story out of it, picking my favourite lines. When working on a scene as an actor, I think my best weapon is my ability to react. How you say your lines is important, but not as important as how you engage with the other actor and how you react to what they’re saying. I was a quiet kid; I always observed everyone else instead of participating, but I was present. I think that has served me well as an actress. In auditions, I can very quickly determine what kind of person the role is and to whom in my mental repertoire they might be similar.

With all your recent achievements, what’s next for you? Are there any upcoming projects you’re excited to share?

I mean, ‘Skill House’ kind of left the door open for a sequel, so… we’ll see about that! As for music, I’m always writing and recording. The goal is eventually to release an album! I’m always auditioning for more acting projects too… I filmed a funny feature film last year that I can’t really talk about yet, but word on the street is it might be released late 2025 or early 2026.
