Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival 2025: A Celebration of Global Short Cinema

Clermont-Ferrand, France – The 47th edition of the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, the world’s premier event dedicated to short films, will run from January 31 to February 8, 2025. With an expected audience of nearly 170,000 attendees and over 4,000 film professionals from across the globe, the festival promises to once again be a dynamic celebration of creativity, diversity, and cinematic innovation.

This year’s program will showcase over 8,200 film submissions from 51 countries, competing in categories such as National, International, and Lab Competitions. A special highlight of 2025 includes a Geographic Focus on Lebanon, exploring the rich and resilient Lebanese cinema through masterclasses, retrospectives, and a photography exhibition by Lebanese artist Lara Tabet.

Additionally, the Thematic Retrospective: “Le Bruit qui Court” will delve into the world of sound in cinema, featuring immersive sound experiences, masterclasses by Oscar-winning sound engineer Michelle Couttolenc, and live performances. The festival will also host its 40th Short Film Market, a hub for global filmmakers, producers, and distributors, emphasizing innovation and virtual reality.

The Juries and the Official Trailer Are Revealed

This year’s juries include an impressive roster of industry professionals. The International Jury features Oscar-winning sound engineer Michelle Couttolenc (Mexico), director Sherif Elbendary (Egypt), and animator Flóra Anna Buda (Hungary), among others. The National Jury will include leading French directors, cinematographers, and screenwriters such as Émilie Noblet and Ovidie. For the Lab Competition, expect a diverse team of creatives, including musicians and visual artists.

The festival has also unveiled its highly anticipated official trailer, a visually stunning showcase that highlights the festival’s new graphic identity designed by French illustrator Marie Larrivé. The trailer beautifully captures the imaginative spirit of the festival, offering a glimpse into the worlds of short films featured this year.

In keeping with its eco-committed ethos, the festival will adhere to a charter of good conduct, combating sexism and promoting inclusivity. The new visual identity reflects this mission, blending imagination with the region’s iconic landscape.
