London, UK – Brought to you by the Executive Producers of All Quiet on The Western Front and The Pirate Queen, Singer Studios proudly announce Trailblazer, a groundbreaking VR experience directed by Emmy-nominated filmmaker Eloise Singer and starring Daisy Ridley (Star Wars).
This immersive narrative brings to life the untold story of Bertha Benz—a visionary pioneer who defied societal norms, took her husband’s revolutionary invention, and embarked on the world’s first road trip in 1888, changing the course of history forever.
Set in Germany in 1888, Trailblazer tells the remarkable true story of Bertha Benz, the wife of Karl Benz, inventor of the Motorwagen. While Karl struggled with self-doubt, Bertha took his invention and embarked on a daring 120-kilometre journey. Her bold decision to showcase the car to sceptical public and press made history and paved the way for the age of innovation.
“Bertha’s story struck a chord with me the moment I first read about her,” said Eloise Singer, Director and Executive Producer. “This wasn’t just a test drive of the world’s first car; it was a daring statement about innovation and tenacity which changed the course of history. She believed in the impossible and made it happen, even when the odds were against her.”
The project is executive produced by BAFTA-winning and Oscar-nominated Lesley Paterson (All Quiet on the Western Front), Daisy Ridley, and Emmy-nominated Eloise Singer (The Pirate Queen), whose combined talents bring Bertha Benz’s remarkable journey to life.
The critically acclaimed VR experience premiered at the Venice Film Festival and SXSW, where it received widespread praise for its groundbreaking storytelling and immersive design.
Trailblazer invites audiences to step into Bertha’s shoes, exploring her workshop, assembling the revolutionary engine, and commencing a journey that reshaped transportation forever.

This marks the beginning of the Trailblazer franchise, which will expand into a graphic novel series created by Singer Studios and a fdeature film executive produced by Singer, Paterson, and Ridley. The franchise will delve deeper into Bertha Benz’s extraordinary journey and legacy as a trailblazer in history.
Trailblazer: The Untold Story of Mrs Benz will be released on Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest 3 on March 7, 2025.
